Quezon City University (QCU), through Team QCU RISE, marked another milestone in its commitment to sustainability and community engagement with the successful Finalization Meeting and Signing of the Project Acceptance and Commitment for its NextGen Impact project, “CIRCULAR THREADS: Campus-to-Community Textile Recovery and Upcycling Initiatives,” on July 23, 2026, at Talipapa National High School.

Implemented in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the project brings together academic institutions and community stakeholders to promote textile recovery, upcycling, environmental stewardship, and youth participation in sustainable development.

The activity followed an initial coordination meeting held on July 9, 2026, with Talipapa National High School and the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Talipapa, where project plans, implementation strategies, and collaborative roles were discussed.

During the finalization meeting, the project was formally accepted by Dr. Jennifer E. Tan, Officer-in-Charge Principal of Talipapa National High School, and Hon. Ma. Denielly V. Solano, Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson of Barangay Talipapa, through the signing of the Project Acceptance and Commitment. The signing signified the partners’ shared commitment to implementing initiatives that encourage responsible textile waste management while providing meaningful opportunities for youth leadership and community participation.

Also present were the members of Team QCU RISE and the project advisers, Mr. Lenard F. Bien and Ms. Annie Lou Gonzales, who reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the school and local community throughout the project’s implementation.

Through Circular Threads, Quezon City University continues to strengthen its role in advancing sustainability-driven extension programs by transforming environmental challenges into opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and community empowerment. The initiative reflects the University’s commitment to developing socially responsible solutions that create lasting impact both on campus and in the communities it serves.
