QC’s “Joy is a Farm” Earns International Recognition at AIPH World Green City Awards 2026
Quezon City’s Joy is a Farm initiative has been named a Highly Commended Finalist in the Living Green – Urban Agriculture & Food Systems category of the AIPH World Green City Awards 2026, announced in Bari, Italy.
The recognition places Joy is a Farm among the top three initiatives in its category, highlighting Quezon City’s efforts to use urban agriculture and greening initiatives to promote healthier, more sustainable, and resilient communities.
A flagship collaboration between the Quezon City Government and Quezon City University (QCU), Joy is a Farm promotes urban agriculture, food security, livelihood opportunities, and community participation. It also provides a platform for developing and demonstrating innovative approaches to urban farming in a highly urbanized setting.
The AIPH World Green City Awards recognize city initiatives that demonstrate how plants and urban greening can help address urban challenges and contribute to sustainable and livable communities. The recognition brings Quezon City into the growing AIPH Green City community, opening opportunities for knowledge exchange and international collaboration.
The 2026 recognition builds on Joy is a Farm’s growing international profile. In the 2025 CityNet SDG Awards, the initiative was named among the Top 3 overall and received the Breakthrough Innovation of the Year award.
Through Joy is a Farm, Quezon City and QCU continue to demonstrate how urban agriculture can support sustainable development while creating meaningful opportunities for communities to participate in building a greener and more resilient city.
