Temasek Polytechnic – Singapore visits Quezon City University

Quezon City University (QCU) had the privilege of hosting a delegation of students and faculty members from Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore, on November 6, 2023, as part of an overseas immersion program. Fifty-four electronics engineering and business students and four faculty members from Temasek Polytechnic visited QCU to learn more about the University’s academic offerings, services, facilities, and noteworthy achievements as a local university.

The warm reception, held at the lobby of the New Academic Building was led by QCU officials, Dr. Bradford Antonio C. Martinez, Vice President for Academic, and Ms. Pia Angelina C. Tan, VP for Administration and Finance. Selected students from the College of Engineering (CE) – Electronics Engineering Department and College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA)– Entrepreneurship and Accountancy Departments also actively participated in extending a warm welcome to the Singaporean guests.

Adding a cultural touch to the reception, the Tanghalang QCU – Dance Chorale showcased a cultural dance performance inspired by the Tausug ethnic dance. Prof. Araceli Suyat, adviser of the TQCU, explained the meaning of the dance, who also asked the participants to join the subsequent dance demonstration.

In the formal program held at the QCU Library, Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, QCU President, expressed her gratitude to Temasek Polytechnic for choosing QCU as a destination for educational tour in the Philippines, expressing hope for strengthened partnerships between the institutions. Afterwards, Engr. Leonard Catchillar, chairperson of the Electronics Department, and Dr. Gerardo Bautista, dean of the CBAA, presented an overview of QCU’s programs and accomplishments.

The visit also featured interactive activities, including discussions between Temasek delegates and QCU students, a comprehensive campus tour, and classroom observations. Dr. Martinez concluded the event by reiterating QCU’s commitment to welcoming visitors, while the Temasek Polytechnic delegation expressed profound appreciation for QCU’s hospitality, expressing a desire to return in the future.

The visit was coordinated through the Office of the President with the Research, Extension, Planning, and Linkages (REPL), Physical Facilities and General Services Division (PF-GSD), and Events Management Office working hand-in-hand to ensure the success of the program.
