Quezon City University (QCU) marked a milestone by signing two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Polangui Community College, Initao College, and Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas on October 11, 2024. The virtual event celebrated the shared commitment to enhancing research and extension capabilities.

QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza emphasized the importance of collective efforts in advancing research, calling the partnership “a step forward in improving institutional and faculty capabilities.” Leaders from partner schools echoed the significance of collaboration, citing its potential to drive innovation and community impact.

Through the signed research collaboration MoU, the four LUCs will work on a study on the research and extension competencies of faculty members and employees in their respective institutions.

In their separate messages, Dr. Rosalinda B. Barquez, College Administrator of Polangui Community College, reflected on the power of unity and shared goals. “This partnership is a testament to collaboration. Coming together is the beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success,” she said, highlighting the importance of mutual efforts in research.

Similarly, Dr. Divina Gracia C. Divino, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Services at Initao College, underlined the MoU’s role in fostering academic cooperation. “This agreement sets a framework for future joint research and faculty exchanges, promoting innovation and advancing knowledge across various fields,” she noted.

Representing Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas, Dr. Mary Ann Antenor emphasized the broader impact of this collaboration. “This MoU is a showcase of our shared aspiration for vibrant research excellence that benefits not only institutions but also communities,” she said.

The MoUs establish frameworks for joint research, faculty exchanges, and extension projects, reflecting the institutions’ dedication to fostering academic cooperation and addressing societal challenges.

The program also featured a seminar on strengthening research collaboration, led by Dr. Jessa Frida T. Festijo of Lyceum of the Philippines University, Manila. Dr. Festijo shared insights on the challenges and opportunities in academic research partnerships. She emphasized that research is a process, not just an output, and discussed strategies to overcome challenges like resource limitations and publication costs.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Clyde Alexander, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Polangui Community College, expressed optimism for the partnership’s potential to create transformative opportunities in research and education. He thanked QCU through the leadership of Dr. Atienza and her research team led by Dir. Angelito Bautista Jr. for successfully initiating this partnership.
