Quezon City University (QCU) earned the Sustainability Award at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) ICONS 2025, held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), in recognition of the University’s steadfast commitment to advancing the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The prestigious recognition affirms QCU’s holistic approach to sustainability through its integrated efforts in education, research, innovation, and community engagement. Central to these initiatives is Joy Is Farm, a program of the Quezon City Government and QCU, which serves as a flagship sustainability and community-based initiative promoting urban agriculture, environmental stewardship, food security, and experiential learning for students and partner communities.

The award highlights QCU’s sustained programs that embed sustainability principles into academic curricula, encourage impactful research aligned with global development priorities, and strengthen partnerships that address pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. Through inclusive learning, responsible governance, and community-centered projects such as Joy Is Farm, the University empowers learners and stakeholders to become active contributors to nation-building and sustainable development.

This milestone reflects the collective dedication of the entire QCU community—its students, faculty, administrators, and partners—whose shared vision and collaborative action continue to drive meaningful change beyond the campus. As QCU moves forward, the University remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate a future that is resilient, equitable, and sustainable for all.
