QCU Robotics Team Secures 2nd Runner-Up in the Philippine VEX Robotics Skills Competition 2024

Quezon City University is delighted to announce the outstanding achievement of the QCU Robotics Team, ROBO 1, which secured the 2nd Runner-Up position in the highly competitive Philippine VEX Robotics Skills Competition 2024. The event took place on January 24, 2024, at Xavier School in San Juan.

Representing QCU were Prince L. Docot-BSECE3A, Rencis R. Sumugat-BSECE3A, Daniel Cimanes-BSECE2B, Raniel Rick Francisco Penas-BSECE2B, and Enerjhun Relon-BAIT2A, under the supervision of their coach, Engr. Leonard A. Catchillar. The competition brought together talented teams from various schools and universities across the country, highlighting the exceptional talents and capabilities of Filipino students in the field of robotics.

The top three teams including QCU will advance to the National Robotics Competition on February 29, 2024. QCU ROBO 1 aims to secure the championship award and become the representative of the country in the 2024 International Robotics Competition scheduled on April in Dallas, Texas, USA.

VEX Robotics Competition Over Under is played on a 12’ x 12’ square field configured as seen above. Two (2) Alliances – one (1) “red” and one (1) “blue” – composed of two (2) Teams each, compete in matches consisting of a fifteen (15) second Autonomous Period, followed by a one minute and forty-five second (1:45) Driver Controlled Period. The objective of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by Scoring Triballs in Goals, and by Elevating at the end of the Match.

The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest and fastest-growing middle school and high school robotics program globally with more than 20,000 teams from 50 countries playing in over 1,700 competitions worldwide.
