QCU conducts a Foundation Course on Intellectual Property for Faculty Members
QCU’s Innovation and Technology Support Office (QCU-ITSO) organized a foundation course on Intellectual Property (IP) via Zoom on January 31, 2024. The event brought together faculty members from the College of Computer Studies to discuss IP systems, rights, and protection.
In her opening message, Ms. Maria Aura C. Impang, General Manager of the QCU Innovation and Technology Support Office, emphasized the importance of understanding and safeguarding intellectual property in the digital age.
The morning session featured Mr. Manuel Abiera Jr., a faculty member of the College of Computer Studies and one of the QCU-ITSO Coordinators, who provided insight into the IP system. He covered patents, utility models, and industrial designs.
In the afternoon, Ms. Paula Joy Dela Cruz, a faculty member of the College of Computer Studies and one of the QCU ITSO Coordinators, focused on copyright and trademarks. Ms. Dela Cruz discussed how to protect creative works and brand identities.
Mr. Angelito P. Bautista Jr., Director of the Research Management Office, delivered the closing message. He expressed gratitude to the participants for their active participation and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering innovation through robust IP education initiatives.
The Foundation Course on Intellectual Property is a regular activity organized by the QCU-ITSO to equip its faculty members with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in an increasingly competitive and innovative IP landscape.
