QCU, PMA Sign MoU to Strengthen Collaboration in Technology and Education

Quezon City University (QCU) and the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) formally sealed a strategic academic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony held at the QCU Administrative Building, San Bartolome camous on April 3, 2025.

The event marked a significant milestone for both institutions, highlighting a shared commitment to collaboration in the fields of Robotics, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence—areas critical to national development and technological progress.

The PMA delegation was led by Vice Admiral Caesar Bernard N. Valencia, PN, Superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy, accompanied by top-ranking officials including: BGEN Jose Demar A. Pauly, COP – Dean of Academics, COL Kim Eric Alexander D. Agatep, PAF (GSC) – Chief of Staff, LTC Noah M. Hernandez, COL Aristotle D. Maglasang, LTC Delfin Edmon E. Elona, and other esteemed members of PMA leadership.

From Quezon City University, the ceremony was graced by Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, University President, along with university officials including: Dr. Randel D. Estacio – OIC Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ryan Arago – Dean, College of Engineering, Dr. Isagani Tano – Dean, College of Computer Studies, Dr Glenda Rebucas – Dean, College of Business, Dr. Gerardo Bautista – Dean, College of Accountancy and others from the Research Management Office, NSTP, and ROTC programs.

In his remarks, Vice Admiral Valencia expressed optimism and enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Unang-una, kami ay nagpapasalamat for this opportunity. When we first discussed with Dr. Atienza, there were certain questions, but we were committed to make one thing good—to make our universities better. In this particular collaboration, we are excited about what the possibilities would be. Hindi namin alam what this will result to, but we are excited with the possibilities and the probabilities.”

He also highlighted QCU’s expertise as a catalyst for enhancing PMA’s academic programs, “Si Dr. Atienza has been instrumental to make me sure that our new curriculum at PMA will be an improved one—a better one that will make better officers for the future. We have tapped the Quezon City University because we saw how advanced you are in terms of robotics and engineering, and it is one way of making sure that our officers that will graduate in the future have the same capability that all of your students are.”

Following the signing, a campus tour was conducted to showcase QCU’s advanced facilities. The program continued with a dialogue session at the QCU Library where faculty from the College of Engineering and College of Computer Studies met with PMA representatives to explore potential research collaborations, faculty exchange programs, and joint curriculum initiatives.

This partnership marks a significant step in QCU’s efforts to expand its academic network, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and provide students and faculty with opportunities that contribute to the country’s innovation and defense readiness.

With shared values rooted in excellence, leadership, and national service, QCU and PMA look forward to a future of impactful joint initiatives and lasting academic synergy.
