QCU Honored with “Water Warrior Award for Water Education” at World Water Day PH Awards 2025
March 22, 2025 | Quezon City – In celebration of World Water Day 2025, Quezon City University (QCU) was awarded the prestigious Water Warrior Award for Water Education during the World Water Day Philippines Awards 2025.
The recognition was presented by Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad), in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the National Water Resources Board (NWRB)—alongside seven other key organizations—during a ceremony held at Novotel Hotel, Araneta City. The event honored individuals and institutions making outstanding contributions to water security and environmental sustainability in the Philippines.
QCU, represented by University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, and Research Management Office Director Mr. Angelito P. Bautista Jr., received the award for its unwavering commitment to integrating water sustainability into its academic curriculum and student engagement programs. This forward-thinking approach aims to empower future leaders to champion water conservation and responsible water management.
QCU is the first Local University and College (LUC) to be recognized in the history of the World Water Day PH Awards, setting a strong example for higher education institutions in the country.
The World Water Day PH Awards 2025 recognized outstanding efforts from local leaders, organizations, and advocates who work tirelessly to protect the country’s water resources and improve access to clean water and sanitation for all Filipinos.
QCU’s recognition reinforces its commitment to advancing sustainable practices through education, and highlights the critical role of academic institutions in shaping the next generation of water stewards.
