QCU Pioneer 2026 Highlights Engineering Innovation and Research Excellence
Quezon City University (QCU) held the Pioneer 2026 Research Colloquium on May 19, 2026, gathering aspiring engineers, faculty researchers, and academic leaders in a full-day celebration of innovation, collaboration, and research excellence.
Carrying the theme, “Husay at Talino: Inobasyon ng Inhinyero, Itanghal at Ipagbunyi,” the colloquium highlighted the creativity and technical ingenuity of engineering students through research presentations, poster exhibits, and plenary discussions focused on innovation and technological advancement.
The event formally opened with welcome remarks from QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, who emphasized the importance of research and innovation in developing future-ready engineers capable of addressing real-world challenges through science and technology.
One of the highlights of the colloquium was the plenary sessions led by experts from the Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC). Dr. Jayson Rogelio, Career Scientist II from the Prototyping Division, delivered the first plenary talk, sharing insights on innovation, prototyping, and engineering research applications. This was followed by a second plenary session by Engr. Rodnel O. Tamayo, Chief of the Prototyping Division, who discussed advancements and opportunities in engineering design and technological development.
The program also featured a testimony from Mr. Neriel Madriaga, a participant in the VEX World Robotics Competition, who inspired attendees by sharing his experiences in international robotics competition and innovation-driven learning.
In the afternoon, parallel paper and poster presentation sessions were conducted by ECE and IE students. The presentations showcased research initiatives and engineering solutions addressing operational, technological, and community-centered concerns.
Pioneer 2026 served as a testament to QCU’s commitment to fostering a strong research culture and nurturing future engineers who embody excellence, innovation, and service through scholarly and technological advancement.
