QCU Partners with PANTAY Inc. for Project GEIS Launch, Championing Equality in Learning Spaces
Quezon City University (QCU) Center for Gender and Development (GAD), in partnership with PANTAY Inc., proudly participated in the launch of Project GEIS (Gender Equality Index in Schools)—a groundbreaking initiative aimed at strengthening SOGIESC inclusion and promoting gender-responsive education in academic institutions nationwide.
The launch introduced two innovative tools: the Rainbow Report Card and the Rainbow School Kit, which serve as assessment and capacity-building resources to help schools examine their current level of inclusivity and identify strategic areas for improvement. These tools are designed to empower institutions to create safer, more equitable, and more welcoming environments for students of diverse SOGIESC identities.
The validation activity was led by Ms. Aimee Santos-Lyons, together with Mr. AJ Villapando, Project Officer, and the dedicated PANTAY facilitation team. They guided participants through insightful discussions on gender equality, inclusive policies, and the practical application of the Project GEIS tools. Their expertise fostered meaningful engagement and encouraged participants to reflect on the lived experiences of marginalized groups within the school community.
A diverse group of stakeholders—queer students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and university administrators—worked collaboratively to review QCU’s self-assessment on inclusivity. Through open dialogue and collective reflection, participants identified existing gaps, shared personal testimonies, and proposed actionable steps to strengthen the university’s commitment to gender fairness and non-discrimination.
This participatory approach underscored the importance of community-driven efforts in shaping inclusive learning spaces. By actively involving students and staff in the evaluation process, QCU reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing a campus culture that respects, protects, and uplifts every member of its community.
QCU extends its heartfelt appreciation to all who participated in this milestone initiative. Your voices and contributions play a vital role in advancing equality, fostering belongingness, and championing inclusive education for all.
