QCU Participates in the 2nd ALCUCOA National Research Conference
Quezon City University (QCU) actively participated in the 2nd Association of Local College and Universities – Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA) National Research Conference, hosted at the City College of Angeles from July 18-19, 2024.
Under the theme “Pursuing Global Development through Local Multidisciplinary Education,” the conference was a collaborative effort with the City College of Angeles and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, drawing educators, policymakers, and researchers together to discuss integrating global development goals within localized educational frameworks in the Philippines.
The conference kicked off with remarks from Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, President of ALCUCOA, followed by a keynote from Efren F. Abulencia, representing Dr. Lora L. Yusi from CHED Region-III. Dr. Ethlbert P. Dapiton sparked the session with an insightful discussion on qualitative research writing, emphasizing the critical role of philosophical foundations in educational research.
Parallel sessions showcased diverse research topics, including a research presentation by QCU’s Dir. Angelito P. Bautista Jr. of the Research Management Office, who explored the impacts of hybrid learning on education reform, and Dr. Glenda Rebucas of the Quality Assurance, Curriculum and Instructional Materials (QACIM) on the accreditation experiences of local university administrators. The parallel sessions highlighted innovative solutions to contemporary educational challenges, from technology integration to addressing social inequalities.
Prof. Johnny T. Amora enriched the second day with a deep dive into quantitative research methodologies, particularly emphasizing the use of structural equation modeling in educational settings. A significant highlight was the establishment of the Local Colleges and Universities Research Network (LRN), aimed at fostering collaborative research among educational institutions, where Dir. Bautista was elected as a member of the Board representing the National Capital Region and Treasurer.
Dr. Carolina A. Sarmiento, Officer-in-Charge at the City College of Angeles, expressed gratitude for the collaborative spirit and the forward momentum achieved during the conference. The successful conclusion of the conference marked another milestone in QCU’s ongoing commitment to enhancing educational practices through robust academic research and partnerships.
