QCU Champions Community Development by Hosting CBMS Training in 2023
In 2023, Quezon City University (QCU) played a pivotal role in bolstering local governance and community empowerment by hosting a series of training sessions as part of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) initiative. This system, established under Republic Act No. 11315, involves a technology-based method for collecting, processing, and validating disaggregated data, aiding local government units in crafting informed community development plans.
The training, conducted at QCU’s main campus, was part of a collaboration between the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Quezon City government. These sessions aimed to equip local personnel with the skills needed for effective data collection and utilization in community planning and program implementation.
Key events included:
- CBMS Data Collection Training (Batch 2) from May 22 to June 2, attended by 254 participants.
- Pre-Rollout Refresher Training for 1st Batch CBMS Personnel on June 14, with 345 attendees.
- CBMS Data Collection Training (Batch 4) from September 25 to October 6, involving 134 participants.
- Cocolife Orientation for CBMS Batch 1 Personnel on October 25, attended by 218 participants.
- CBMS Data Collection Training (Batch 5) from November 6 to 17, with 108 attendees.
These training not only enhanced the capabilities of local personnel but also underscored QCU’s commitment to community development and the effective empowerment of its constituents through informed decision-making.
