QCU Hosts PIIE–NSC NCR Qualifying Rounds 2026, Showcases Excellence in Industrial Engineering
Quezon City University (QCU), through the PIIE-ORSP QCU Student Chapter, successfully hosted the PIIE–NSC NCR Qualifying Rounds 2026 on April 11, 2026. Organized by the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers – National Student Chapter (PIIE-NSC), the event gathered top Industrial Engineering students from leading higher education institutions across the National Capital Region, including De La Salle University–Manila, University of the Philippines–Diliman, Colegio de Muntinlupa, Adamson University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines–Manila, Mapúa University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran–Manila, New Era University, Technological Institute of the Philippines–Manila and Quezon City, and Quezon City University.
The competition featured a series of academic and skills-based events, including the Case Study Hackathon, Feasibility Study Competition, and Inter-University Quiz Bee. These activities provided participants with a dynamic platform to showcase their analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork—core competencies essential in the field of industrial engineering. The opening program was formally welcomed by QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, who highlighted the value of academic collaboration and the pursuit of excellence among aspiring industrial engineers.
In the Inter-University Quiz Bee, QCU was represented by Jorous John M. Lopez, Chesca Mae M. Casiquin, Desiree Jane Maramara, and Laura Isabel D. Tolentino, under the guidance of their coach, Engr. Raniel B. Taripe. The team delivered a commendable performance, securing 5th place among competing institutions. Meanwhile, the QCU Feasibility Study team—composed of Mark Al Jhun Español, Lorentz Hendrik Goloyugo, Atasha Nicole Macabale, and Princes Narvasa—was mentored by Dr. Nina Apusaga, demonstrating strong research and project development capabilities.
The successful hosting of the PIIE–NSC NCR Qualifying Rounds 2026 highlights Quezon City University’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, nurturing student potential, and strengthening industry-relevant skills.
