QCU Explores Urban Agriculture Research Collaboration with Ateneo Innovation Center and CLSUÂ
Researchers from Quezon City University (QCU), the Ateneo Innovation Center, and Central Luzon State University (CLSU) convened in a series of exploratory meetings via Zoom on April 29, May 18, and May 21, 2026, to discuss potential collaborations on urban agriculture research and future grant-funded initiatives.
The meetings brought together Paul Cabacangan, Operations Manager of the Ateneo Innovation Center; Dr. Christopher Pascual, Associate Professor at CLSU; and QCU representatives Asst. Prof. Redentor G. Bucaling Jr., Program Chair of the Information Technology Department; Prof. Lalaine Josefa Carrao, faculty member of the College of Computer Studies; Mr. Angelito P. Bautista Jr., Director of the Research Management Office; Engr. Justin Malindao, agriculturist of the Center for Urban Agriculture and Innovation; and Ms. Candice Erika Rudi, Chief of the Publications Unit.
The discussions focused on identifying collaborative research opportunities in urban agriculture while strengthening institutional capacity for competitive research funding. Representatives from the Ateneo Innovation Center and CLSU shared best practices in research project development, grant writing, and proposal preparation, providing valuable insights for developing multidisciplinary and impact-driven research initiatives.
The series of meetings served as an important first step toward establishing strategic research partnerships among the participating institutions. By combining expertise in agriculture, technology, and innovation, the collaboration aims to develop sustainable, research-based solutions that address urban food systems and support future externally funded research projects.
