QCU, Philippine Reclamation Authority Partner to Advance Urban Agriculture Through 10 Smart Hydroponics Greenhouses

SDG2491117

Quezon City University (QCU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) on October 16, 2026, at the QCU San Bartolome Campus. Under the agreement, the Quezon City Government, through QCU, will initially receive 10 hydroponic greenhouse facilities equipped with smart remote-sensing technology.

Because of the University’s Center for Urban Agriculture and Innovation (CUAI), the PRA saw QCU as a highly qualified development partner in promoting sustainable agriculture, food security, and entrepreneurial mindset for the youth.

These hydroponics greenhouse facilities will serve as living laboratories for our learners for them to realize opportunities in agriculture and contribute to our local economy. This was made possible through the efforts of Councilor Nikki Crisologo and former Congressman Onyx Crisologo who is currently a Member of the Board of Directors of PRA.

The benefits of this project will go beyond the provision of greenhouse facilities. As this is a national endeavor of the PRA, it will continue up to monitoring and exchange of knowledge wherein we can highlight Quezon City’s experience and expertise in urban farming and share it to the entire country.
