CCS Hosts SYNERGY 2026: 4th Student Research Conference at QCU

The College of Computer Studies (CCS) of Quezon City University successfully conducted SYNERGY 2026: 2026 QCU 4th Student Research Conference on May 20, 2026, gathering student researchers, faculty members, academic leaders, and industry experts in a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and technological advancement.

Carrying the theme, “Innovate. Protect. Transform: Securing Research in the AI Era,” the conference highlighted the growing importance of responsible and secure research practices amid the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The event served as a platform for students to showcase research papers, system developments, and emerging technology solutions that address real-world challenges through computing and innovation.

The program officially opened with registration, followed by an opening prayer and the singing of the national anthem. University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza delivered the welcome message, emphasizing the role of research and innovation in shaping future-ready learners and professionals. This was followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Isagani M. Tano, OIC-VPAA of Quezon City University, who encouraged students to continue pursuing meaningful and impactful research initiatives.

One of the highlights of the conference was the keynote speech delivered by Dr. Ronnel P. Agulto, a researcher and academic specializing in Information, Communication, and Electronics Engineering. Introduced by Dr. Paula Joy L. Dela Cruz, OIC-Dean of the College of Computer Studies, Dr. Agulto shared valuable insights on innovation, sustainability, and the evolving landscape of AI-driven research and technology.

The conference also featured a robotics update, opening of the research poster exhibit, and student paper presentations divided into two sessions. These activities provided participants with opportunities to present their studies, exchange ideas, and engage in academic discussions with panelists, judges, and fellow researchers.

Outstanding student researchers and presenters were recognized during the awarding ceremony, where certificates and special awards for Best Presenter, Best Research Poster, and Best Research Paper were conferred. The event concluded with a closing message from Prof. Redentor G. Bucaling Jr., Program Head of the BSIT Department, followed by a photo opportunity with participants, organizers, and guests.

SYNERGY 2026 reflects the continued commitment of the College of Computer Studies and Quezon City University to strengthening research culture, digital innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration among students and faculty. Through initiatives like the Student Research Conference, QCU continues to empower future technology professionals to develop ethical, impactful, and community-oriented innovations in the AI era.
