QCU’s Batch Sidhaya Produces 2,498 Graduates at 18th Commencement Exercises
Quezon City University (QCU) confers degrees upon 2,498 graduates of Batch Sidhaya during its 18th Commencement Exercises on June 30, 2026, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Carrying the theme, “Excellence in Action: Resilience, Innovation, Sustainability, and Equity for Global Impact,” this year’s commencement celebrates not only the academic achievements of the graduating class but also the University’s commitment to producing future-ready professionals equipped to address local and global challenges.
Batch Sidhaya is composed of graduates from seven academic programs. The largest cohort comes from BS Entrepreneurship with 927 graduates, followed by BS Information Technology with 712 graduates. Other degree programs include BS Industrial Engineering (288), BS Management Accounting (207), Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (152), BS Accountancy (125), and BS Electronics Engineering (87).
Academic distinction continues to define this year’s graduating class, with 313 students earning Latin honors—257 Cum Laude and 56 Magna Cum Laude. The BS Information Technology program produced the highest number of Latin honor recipients with 204, followed by BS Entrepreneurship with 55, and Bachelor in Early Childhood Education with 33.
Leading the class is Ruby Alexandra T. Sawat, a BS Information Technology graduate, who received the Academic Excellence Award after earning an outstanding General Weighted Average of 1.296. She also delivers the Valedictory Address, representing the achievements, aspirations, and shared experiences of the graduating class.
Meanwhile, Jean Pauline S. Ortega, a BS Management Accounting graduate, is conferred the Manuel Luis Quezon Youth Leadership Award in recognition of her exemplary leadership and service under the University’s point-based evaluation system.
Adding significance to the ceremony, Dr. Hans T. Sy, Chairman of the Executive Committee of SM Prime Holdings, serves as this year’s Commencement Speaker, sharing insights and inspiration as graduates prepare to embark on their professional and personal journeys.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte also delivered an inspirational message, congratulating Batch Sidhaya on reaching this important milestone and encouraging the graduates to become compassionate, innovative, and responsible leaders who will contribute to building more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient communities. She likewise reaffirms the Quezon City Government’s steadfast commitment to expanding access to quality higher education and empowering the next generation of changemakers through institutions such as QCU.
Prior to the commencement exercises, graduates participated in a Recollection and Baccalaureate Mass and a Recognition Ceremony on June 26, marking the culmination of their academic journey through reflection, thanksgiving, and recognition of outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service.
As QCU celebrates the accomplishments of Batch Sidhaya, this year’s commencement underscores the University’s continuing mission of providing accessible, quality, and industry-responsive education. The graduation of 1,115 first-generation college graduates reflects QCU’s enduring commitment to expanding educational opportunities, promoting social mobility, and transforming the lives of families and communities.
