Quezon City University (QCU) was recognized for its outstanding contributions to youth development bagging two prestigious awards at the USAID Opportunity 2.0 Youth and Partners Summit 2024, held on November 13-14, 2024, at Novotel Araneta, Quezon City (QC).

QCU received the Most Innovative Extension Program Award in Support of Out-of-School Youth (OSY) Development. This award was conferred for QCU’s Sagip OSY project, a key initiative under the BLeSDS for OSY program. The project has had a profound impact on the development of OSY in the areas of employment, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement, particularly in urban agriculture. The project’s success is a testament to the university’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by OSY and helping them gain meaningful skills for their future.

QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, QC Councilor Aly Medalla, and Mr. Angelito Bautista, Director of QCU’s Research Management Office, received the award on behalf of QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza for the Most Outstanding Youth Champion – National Capital Region (NCR) Hub. The award recognized the tireless dedication and advocacy for the development of out-of-school youth (OSY) in NCR. The efforts of QC local government unit and QCU have been instrumental in empowering OSY, creating meaningful pathways for their personal and professional growth.

These recognitions further solidify QCU’s role as a leader in promoting social development through innovative programs aimed at empowering marginalized youth in the region.
