Mayor Joy, Dr. Atienza Recognized in 2024 CSC Awards

Quezon City (QC) Mayor Josefina “Joy” Belmonte and Quezon City University (QCU) President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza were honored at the 2024 Civil Service Commission (CSC) Search for Outstanding Government Workers on November 15, 2024, at Midas Hotel, Pasay City.


Mayor Belmonte received regional award and national semi-finalist for the prestigious Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award, a recognition of her exceptional dedication to public service and her inspiring leadership in Quezon City. This award highlights her continuous efforts in transforming QC into a model of good governance, making significant strides in improving the welfare of her constituents.


Meanwhile, Dr. Atienza, President of Quezon City University, was conferred the Pag-Asa Award for her relentless commitment to enhancing the university’s standing. Through various institutional initiatives and programs, including the BLeSDS for the out-of-school youth (OSY) Executive Course—funded by US Agency for International Development-Education Development Center (USAID-EDC)—Dr. Atienza has made notable contributions to the development and recognition of the institution.


In addition, Ms. Margarita Santos, Head of the QC Business Permits and Licensing Department, also received the Pag-Asa Award, recognizing her outstanding leadership in improving the city’s business permit processes and facilitating local economic growth.


Quezon City is the only local government unit (LGU) in the National Capital Region (NCR) to have received three awards this year, underscoring the city’s dedication to effective governance and public
service excellence.
