QCU Robotics Team Earns Spot at VEX World Championship in the USA

Quezon City University’s (QCU) Robotics Team QCU1 has made history by earning a spot at the prestigious VEX World Robotics Championship in the University Category. The competition will take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, USA, from May 9-11, 2025.


Team QCU1’s outstanding performance at the Philippine VEX Robotics National Championship earned them several prestigious accolades, including Tournament Finalists, the Design Award, and the Robot Skills Champion title—achievements that secured their spot in the World Championship.


These remarkable achievements highlight the hard work, creativity, and innovation of Team QCU1, whose dedication to excellence has earned them a place on the global stage. The team will compete against over 100 universities from around the world in the VEX University Category.


Team QCU1’s journey to the VEX World Championship marks a significant milestone in the university’s growing reputation in robotics and technology. Their success at the national competition reflects the cutting-edge skills they have developed through rigorous training and close collaboration with their faculty mentors.


The VEX World Championship is one of the largest and most prestigious robotics competitions globally, attracting top teams from across the world. It is also recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest robotics competition in the world.

The official delegation will be led by University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, College of Engineering Dean Dr. Ryan F. Arago, and Department of Electronics Engineering Chairperson Engr. Leonard A. Catchillar. The student-delegates of Team QCU1 who will compete are: John Daniel C. Cimanes, Prince L. Docot, Raniel Rick F. Peñas, Enerjhun Q. Relon, Arturo D. Marte Jr. II, and Rencis R. Sumugat.


In recognition of their accomplishments, Hytec Power Inc., a key industry partner of the university, will support the team to help them focus on their preparations for the championship.
