QCU Supports QCLGU 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women
Quezon City University (QCU) stands in solidarity with the Quezon City LGU (QCLGU), led by Mayor Joy Belmonte, in actively participating in the 18-day campaign to end violence against women (VAW).
The group Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE), headed by Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, plays a crucial role in promoting a community that respects women’s rights.
The active involvement of men is essential in preventing abuse and in becoming strong advocates for the rights and welfare of women in the city.
In Quezon City, there is zero tolerance for abuse, harassment, physical violence, or mistreatment of women. The city has enacted several laws to combat violence against women, including:
RA 9262 – Anti-Violence Against Women & Their Children Act of 2004
RA 9710 – Magna Carta of Women
RA 11313 – Safe Spaces Act
RA 9208 – Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003
RA 7610 – Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, & Discrimination Act
SP-2501, S-2016 – Quezon City Gender & Development Code
These laws serve as a strong foundation in the fight against violence and continue to support efforts to ensure that women in Quezon City live free from harm, discrimination, and abuse.
