QCU Joins HUTECH-Led International “NextGen Impact” Project on Youth Leadership and Sustainability (Online)
Quezon City University (QCU) has joined the international student-led initiative “NextGen Impact,” spearheaded by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Vietnam, bringing together universities across ASEAN and other regions to promote environmental stewardship, youth leadership, and community engagement.
An initial coordination meeting was held on February 5, 2026, with Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, President of QCU; Dr. Quoc Anh Vu of HUTECH; HUTECH student representatives led by Bao Truong; and Mr. Angelito P. Bautista Jr., Director of the Research Management Office, discussing the framework and implementation of the collaborative initiative.
The project supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by fostering cross-border collaboration and empowering young people to lead sustainability efforts within their local communities.
Under the project’s Mentor–Mentee model, participating universities will organize student committees and train university student mentors who will guide pupils in partner schools in implementing environmental initiatives, including waste reduction, recycling, and other sustainability-focused projects. The program also features international capacity-building sessions, webinars, and a school-based implementation phase scheduled from April to August 2026, culminating in a closing ceremony recognizing the achievements and impact of participating institutions.
Through the engagement of thousands of students and educators, the initiative seeks to strengthen international academic partnerships, promote environmental awareness, and deliver measurable community impact through youth-led sustainability actions.
QCU’s participation reflects the University’s commitment to global collaboration, community engagement, and experiential learning, while empowering students to become future leaders in sustainable development and environmental advocacy.
