QCU Students Win Silver Awards in StartUp QC Student Competition
The students from Quezon City University’s Information Technology and Engineering departments once again showcased their skill and ingenuity by winning the Silver Awards in the esteemed StartUp QC Student Competition organized by the Quezon City Local Economic Investment Promotions Office (LEIPO).
The recognized projects are as follows:
🔹 College of Engineering’s Biobin: This revolutionary waste management solution converts organic materials into biomethane gas, offering a sustainable energy alternative.
🔹 College of Computer Studies’ Agribenta: An online platform that connects farmers and consumers, Agribenta provides agricultural information management, a seasonal harvest calendar, a community forum, and customer support, empowering both farmers and consumers alike.
The Demo Day of the competition featured a total of 27 teams, each presenting their innovative business plans in the fields of sustainability, health, education, agriculture, and governance.
Mayor Joy Belmonte, represented by City Administrator Mike Alimurung, commended the students for their exceptional ideas that have the potential to drive community development forward.
The awarding ceremony was attended by Coun. Irene Belmonte, Director Lilian Salonga from the Department of Trade and Industry – Competitiveness Bureau, LEIPO Head Jay Gatmaitan, department heads, and program partners.
