QCU, QCLGU Advance Evidence-Based Governance for Stronger Communities
The Quezon City Local Government Unit (QCLGU), in partnership with Quezon City University (QCU) and the Barangay and Community Relations Department (BCRD), successfully held the second day of the Speaker Feliciano R. Belmonte Jr. School of Good Governance Certificate Courses on Evidence-Based Policy and Decision Making and Public Finance on June 6, 2026.
The second day featured Dr. Racidon P. Bernarte as Guest Resource Speaker, who led an engaging session on “Evidence-Based Policy and Decision-Making: Key Concepts and Framework.” The lecture emphasized the critical role of data, research, and structured analysis in crafting responsive and effective public policies at the barangay level.
Participants from barangays across Quezon City actively engaged in intensive workshop activities designed to bridge theory and practice. The workshop journey demonstrated a systematic approach to governance—transforming raw local grievances into actionable solutions. Through guided exercises, participants learned how to convert informal community complaints into clear, evidence-based problem statements, identify the most feasible and defensible policy interventions, and integrate these insights into a unified governance cycle of planning, budgeting, monitoring, and strategic communication.
This hands-on learning experience strengthened the capacity of local leaders to make informed decisions grounded in data and community realities, reinforcing Quezon City’s commitment to transparent, accountable, and people-centered governance.
The program continues to serve as a platform for empowering barangay officials and community leaders—equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and frameworks needed to drive sustainable development and deliver meaningful public service.
