Quezon City University, through its Center for Gender and Development (GAD) under the Office of the President, conducted the Gender Fair Language and Safe Spaces Seminar on August 4, 2026, reaffirming the University’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and gender-responsive academic community.

Organized in partnership with the Quezon City Gender and Development Council Office, the seminar featured Atty. Clara Rita Padilla, who discussed the importance of gender fair language, and Safe Spaces Act advocate Vince Renzo Liban, who shared insights on promoting gender sensitivity and creating safe, inclusive, and equitable spaces within educational institutions and communities.

In her opening remarks, QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza underscored the importance of gender sensitivity, inclusive communication, and mutual respect in cultivating a learning environment where every member of the University community feels valued, respected, and empowered.

Faculty members and staff actively participated in discussions on the responsible use of gender-fair language, the promotion of equality, and strategies for preventing discrimination and harassment. The seminar reinforced the shared responsibility of academic institutions in upholding dignity, respect, and inclusivity across the campus.

Through initiatives such as the Gender-Fair Language and Safe Spaces Seminar, QCU continues to advance gender responsive education and strengthen its commitment to building a campus culture that celebrates diversity, promotes equal opportunities, and empowers every member of the University community.
