SDG 4 17

Representatives from Quezon City University (QCU) attended the 33rd ALCUCOA Capability Training on Internationalization of Accreditation, which took place at the Grand Menseng Hotel in Davao City from June 26-28, 2024. The event, organized by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (ALCUCOA), aimed to raise the standards of Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) to align them with global accreditation practices.

The seminar began with a welcome address from Dr. Analiza F. Arcega, President of Pateros Technological College, who emphasized the important role that robust accreditation processes play in maintaining educational excellence. Dr. Elizabeth Montero then discussed the proposed enhancements to the accreditation process by ALCUCOA, including stricter compliance measures for teacher education and their implications for LUCs.

Interactive sessions provided an opportunity for participants to share best practices and strategies for meeting accreditation standards. QCU, represented by Director Angelito P. Bautista Jr. from the Research Management Office and Director Jerico Galvez from the Information and Communication Technology Office, collaborated with peers from various LCUs such as Colegio ng Lungsod ng Batangas, Tangub City Global College, and Polangui Community College. Together, they explored their experiences in accreditation as well as best practices that were relevant to their respective institutions.

Dr. Marjorie S. Gutierrez-Tangog from the University of Perpetual Help-Dalta was the other speaker who briefly discussed the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework, including its principles and basis. Participants engaged in workshop exercises, analyzing principles from the Principles of External Quality Assurance Agency (EQAA) and reflecting on their implications and aspirations related to these principles.
