QCU Leads Urban Farming for Children of Barangay Sauyo
In celebration of the 2025 National Children’s Month with the theme “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata Ipaglaban!”, Quezon City University (QCU), through the Extension Management Office and the NSTP Department, in partnership with Barangay Sauyo, conducted the Urban Farming for Children of Barangay Sauyo on November 15, 2025, at QCU Main Campus.
Facilitated by the NSTP SBECED 1D students under the class advisory of Mr. Lenard F. Bien, the activity introduced children to the basics of hydroponics and sustainable agriculture. Selected participants received urban farming kits prepared by the SBECED 1C class to help them continue practicing what they learned at home.
University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza shared an inspiring message with the participants, reminding them of the blessings of rain and water as gifts that nurture both life and learning. Also present were Hon. Kagawad Karina Joyce Quilo-Diaz and Hon. Kagawad Camille Dela Cruz, who emphasized the importance of caring for the environment and empowering children through community-based learning.
The event concluded with a message from Ms. Merlie P. Luna, NSTP-CWTS Program Chairperson, who commended the students and partners for fostering environmental stewardship among the youth.
QCU will continue to nurture young minds in becoming environment-conscious citizens of Quezon City!
