QCU Leads IMRaD Research Writing Seminar at OLOPSC Faculty Townhall 2025

SDG 4 17

Quezon City University (QCU), through its Research Management Office, took part in the 2025 Faculty Townhall hosted by Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College (OLOPSC) in Marikina City. Mr. Angelito P. Bautista Jr., Director of the Research Management Office, served as plenary speaker and workshop facilitator on the second day of the event.

The session opened with a prayer and a welcome message from the OLOPSC Dean, who expressed gratitude for QCU’s active role in advancing research collaboration among higher education institutions.

Mr. Bautista delivered a lecture titled “Empowering Sustainable Research: Mastering the IMRaD Format through Collaborative and Purpose-Driven Inquiry.” His talk explored the origins and structure of the IMRaD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion), its advantages over traditional thesis formats, and its widespread use in international journals. He also shared practical strategies for writing each section with clarity and coherence, aligned with institutional research goals.

In addition, Mr. Bautista addressed common barriers to academic publishing, such as time constraints, research framing, and journal selection. He highlighted QCU’s internal initiatives to foster a research culture, including its publication platforms and capacity-building programs.

The session concluded with a dialogue on possible collaborations between QCU and OLOPSC, with both institutions expressing interest in research mentoring, co-authored publications, and sharing of journal calls for papers.

QCU’s participation is part of its continuing efforts to build partnerships with local higher education institutions and to promote research development as a key component of its university extension mandate.
