QCU Kicks Off BLeSDS for the OSY Training of Trainers in Pasig City in Partnership with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig
QCU, in collaboration with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP), successfully launched the Training of Trainers (ToT) for the Barangay Leaders Executive Course on Systems Delivery Support for Out-of-School Youth (BLeSDS for the OSY) on August 5, 2024 at the Banquet Hall, PLP Main Campus, Pasig City.
The five-day training event, held from August 5-9, 2024, marked the beginning of a significant initiative aimed at empowering local leaders to effectively support and implement programs for out-of-school youth (OSY) in Pasig City by training faculty members, administrative employees, and local government officials who will serve as speakers, organizers, and facilitators of the program.
In his opening message, Dr. Glicerio R. Maningas, President of PLP, expressed his gratitude to QCU for selecting PLP as a beneficiary of the BLeSDS for the OSY program. He emphasized the importance of this partnership in fostering community development and equipping local leaders with the necessary skills to make a lasting impact. Dr. Theresita Atienza, President of QCU, meanwhile, underscored the potential of this collaboration to strengthen the capacity of local leaders and create sustainable positive change for OSYs in Pasig City through the able leadership of Mayor Vico Sotto and PLP President Maningas.
The first session, facilitated by Mr. Angelito Bautista Jr., provided an introduction to the BLeSDS for the OSY program. The session highlighted the program’s focus on youth leadership, social development, and management, with a particular emphasis on creating relevant and sustainable outcomes for the youth.
A key feature of the first day of training was the session on Bridging Leadership, which focused on fostering collaboration among stakeholders and addressing the root causes of youth disengagement from school. The session included a problem tree analysis activity, where participants identified and analyzed the underlying causes and effects of the issues faced by OSYs in Pasig City. The discussion also covered the importance of co-creation in building responsive institutions and partnerships that can effectively support the youth.
As the training progresses, participants are expected to apply their learnings in the pilot implementation of the BLeSDS for the OSY program in Pasig City, contributing to the development of sustainable and impactful community projects aimed at improving the lives of out-of-school
