QCU Joins AMPLIFI3D 2025 to Advance 3D Printing and Innovation Skills

SDG 4 9 13

Quezon City University (QCU) proudly participated in the Advanced Manufacturing Program for Learning and Innovation Fueling Industry and Regional Development (AMPLIFI3D) 2025, a flagship training initiative organized by the Department of Science and Technology – Advanced Manufacturing Center (DOST-AMCen) in partnership with DOST-MIRDC, MATDEV, and ADMATEL.

Held from May 19 to June 6, 2025, the training aimed to equip participants with in-demand skills in Additive Manufacturing (AM)—including 3D modeling, machine operation, safety protocols, and quality assurance—supporting the country’s shift toward Industry 4.0. Representing QCU was Engr. Dandin Fresno, Head of the Engineering Laboratory, who joined engineering faculty, researchers, and professionals from across the country.

The training featured hands-on workshops and technical tours focused on:

  • The Philippine AM ecosystem and safety practices
  • CAD modeling and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM)
  • Use of 3D printing technologies including FFF, SLA/DLP, and Metal PBF
  • 3D scanning, post-processing, testing, and metrology
  • Certification and industry standards in AM

QCU’s participation in AMPLIFI3D forms part of its broader initiative to establish an Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory under the QCU Innovation Hub, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR). This upcoming facility will serve as a center for research, prototyping, and technology-driven community engagement.

With this effort, QCU continues to enhance its academic programs, expand research capabilities, and prepare its faculty and students for emerging roles in engineering, innovation, and sustainable development.
