Dr. Cacho Represents QCU at IEOM International Conference in Singapore
Dr. Jeffrey L. Cacho, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) at Quezon City University (QCU), represented the university at the 15th Annual International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) held from February 18 to 20, 2025, at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), Singapore.
Organized by the IEOM Society International, the conference is a globally renowned event that brought together over 1,000 participants, including academics, researchers, industry professionals, and students from 51 countries. The conference featured more than 350 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts, showcasing cutting-edge research and innovations in industrial engineering and operations management.
Dr. Cacho actively participated in the conference’s plenary sessions, panel discussions, and technical presentations, gaining valuable insights into emerging trends such as Industry 5.0, lean six sigma, artificial intelligence in project management, global supply chain innovation, and sustainable engineering solutions. His engagement fostered meaningful academic and industry connections that are expected to benefit both QCU and BSIE students.
A key highlight of Dr. Cacho’s participation was the presentation and forthcoming publication of his research paper titled “Technology Management Framework for Urban Farming in Selected Cities of the National Capital Region for Sustainable Development” (Paper ID 146). The study, which will be published in a Scopus-indexed journal, contributes to the advancement of urban agriculture by integrating technology management frameworks with sustainable practices. It aligns with national strategies for food security and smart urban development, offering practical implications for policymakers and industry stakeholders.
Throughout the three-day conference, keynote sessions were delivered by global thought leaders including representatives from DHL Global Forwarding, the Singapore Economic Development Board, and the University of Central Florida. Topics ranged from AI-driven supply chains and humanitarian logistics to sustainable food systems and innovation ecosystems powered by start-ups and advanced technologies.
Dr. Cacho’s presence at the IEOM conference not only highlighted QCU’s commitment to academic excellence and global engagement but also reinforced its vision of being a hub for innovation and research in industrial engineering and sustainable development. His participation is expected to open new opportunities for future research collaborations, international partnerships, and academic advancements that benefit both faculty and students.
QCU celebrates Dr. Cacho’s contributions as a reflection of its growing impact in the global academic community and its ongoing pursuit of excellence in industrial engineering education.
