Quezon City University warmly welcomed the accreditors from the Association of Local Colleges and Universities – Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA) for the Level II Visit of its four programs during the Accreditation Opening Program held on September 6, 2023, at the QCU Auditorium.

The four programs that underwent the Level II Accreditation visit, which was held from September 6 to 8, were the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Entrepreneurship, BS Information Technology, BS Electronics Engineering, and BS Industrial Engineering programs.

ALCUCOA is the official accrediting body for local colleges and universities, which is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to examine the educational operations of universities in the local government if it is operating above or within the standards set for Higher Education Institutions.

Aside from the QCU Officials led by President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, also present during the opening ceremonies were Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, President and Executive Director of ALCUCOA, and the team of accreditors led by Dr. Armando T. Laguinum, the Supervising Accreditor.

In her welcome remarks, Dr. Atienza emphasized that QCU was not compelled but voluntarily applied for Level II Accreditation as the institution sees it fit and important to undergo the higher accreditation to ensure that it provides quality education as an institution of higher learning.

Meanwhile, Dr. Arcega shared that he admires the courage and dedication of QCU to undergo the Level II Accreditation just a few months after receiving the Level I Accreditation of its four programs. He stated that he approved QCU’s application for Level II Accreditation as he believes that the university can surpass the expectations by the accreditors.

Dr. Atienza also read the message of Mayor Ma. Josefina “Joy” Belmonte. In her message, Mayor Joy emphasized the City Government’s unwavering commitment to academic rigor as proven by its constant support of QCU.

“Since its foundation in 1994, QCU has been an active partner of the City Government in delivering free higher education to the residents of Quezon City. The university is key to our mission of strengthening the capabilities of our youth so that they will be proactive citizens who respond to the changing needs of our society,” Mayor Joy emphasized.

This was followed by the presentation of the QCU Accreditation Team per Area by Dr. Glenda Rebucas, Director for Quality Assurance, and the ALCUCOA Accreditation Team who was introduced by Prof. Alni Gaujaymin B. Casacop, Supervising Technical Assistant. The esteemed ALCUCOA Accreditors included:
