QCU Shines at CHED ICONS 2025, Wins Sustainability Award and Recognition for Global Impact Ranking
Quezon City University (QCU) achieved another historic milestone as it was honored at the Commission on Higher Education’s Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2025, held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), on December 10, 2025.
QCU was awarded in the Sustainability Category for Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), recognizing the university’s strong commitment to embedding sustainability practices across institutional operations, academic programs, and community-engagement initiatives. This award affirms QCU’s growing leadership in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in higher education.
In addition to the sustainability award, QCU was also recognized for its participation and performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, where the university placed in the 1501+ global tier. This recognition highlights QCU’s determination to position itself on the international stage by measuring its contributions to global sustainable development across teaching, research, community outreach, and stewardship.
University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza personally received the recognition, reflecting the collective dedication of QCU’s faculty, staff, students, and partners in strengthening the university’s global visibility and transformative initiatives.
The International Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability or ICONS Awards celebrate higher education institutions that champion internationalization, inclusivity, and sustainability—values that QCU continues to integrate into its long-term vision and development strategy.
