QCU Partners with Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation to Strengthen Student Assistance Program
Quezon City University (QCU) strengthened its commitment to inclusive and values-driven education through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation on January 15, 2026, at the Buddhist Tzu Chi Campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing educational assistance, values formation, and holistic student development. Officials from partner institutions, including the University of Caloocan and Pamantasang Lungsod ng Marikina, also witnessed the event, underscoring a shared vision among higher education institutions to expand access to
quality education through meaningful collaboration.
QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza highlighted the importance of partnerships in ensuring that students are supported not only academically but also morally and socially. She emphasized that collaborations such as this play a vital role in nurturing well-rounded, socially responsible graduates.
Under the agreement, nine QCU students—five from the Bachelor of Childhood Education (BCED) program and four from the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program—were selected as grantees. Each student will receive monthly educational assistance amounting to Php 7,000, along with opportunities to participate in values formation activities and life skills seminars.
A testimonial from BSIT student and grantee Frank Leonard Namoc reflected the tangible impact of the initiative, as he shared how the support would help him continue his studies and assist his family’s daily needs.
The collaboration between QCU and the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation reinforces the University’s mandate to promote inclusive education and student welfare, while addressing both academic and non-academic barriers to success. The initiative is expected to contribute positively to student retention, academic performance, and overall well-being.
