QCU Faculty Members and Administrative Officials Showcase Research Papers at A-Grass 2024

Faculty members and administrative officials from Quezon City University (QCU) made a significant impact at the Asian Graduate Studies Summit 2024 (A-Grass), which took place from April 3 to 6, 2024, at the Bangsaen Heritage Hotel in Chon Buri, Thailand. Organized by the Asia Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators (APCORE) Inc. and the Burapha University – Graduate School, the summit brought together over 200 graduate students, professors, academicians, scientists, and experts from various fields to explore “Integrative Solutions for the Future of Asia: Catalyzing Graduate Research for Sustainable Development.”

QCU’s faculty members presented a diverse range of research papers across different disciplines, showcasing the university’s dedication to advancing knowledge and addressing pressing societal challenges toward sustainable development. The areas covered included quality education, reducing inequalities, industry innovation and infrastructure, and no poverty. Some notable presentations included:

College of Engineering

Dr. Ryan Arago, the Dean of the College of Engineering, presented a paper on “Revolutionizing Home Automation: A Smart Energy Metering System Infused with IoT Technology and Data Analytics.”

Dr. Niña C. Apusaga shared insights from her research on “Comparative Study of Students’ Peer Support within Open Groups on Social Network Sites among Education, Engineering, and Entrepreneurship Students at Quezon City University.”

Dr. Aura Marie B. Novesteras presented two papers: “Development of Work Measurement Mobile Application for Industrial Engineering Students Using the ADDIE Model” and “Examining the Factors Affecting the Industrial Engineering Certification Examination Preparation.”

College of Computer Studies

Ms. Angela L. Arago discussed “The Implementation of a Frequentist Probability Algorithm in Identifying Visitors’ Behavior in the Design and Development of a Visitor Management System.”

College of Education

Dr. Randel D. Estacio, the Dean of the College of Education, presented findings on “Practices of Daycare Workers in Quezon City in Encouraging Age-appropriate Learning and Socialization” and “Self-efficacy of Early Childhood Education Pre-service Teachers after the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).”

College of Business Administration and Accountancy

Dr. Erlee Angel S. Reyes explored “Exploring the Socioeconomic Impacts of Digital Nomad Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets.”

Furthermore, Angelito P. Bautista Jr., the Director of the Research Management Office, presented a paper on the “Survey on the Perception of Tertiary Filipino Students on Hybrid Learning in Quezon City, Philippines.” AMr. Lenard F. Bien, the Acting Director of the Extension Management Office, also shared insights on the “Training Needs of Community Leaders in Quezon City: Basis for Developing an Executive Course on System Delivery Support for Out-of-School Youth” during a Multidisciplinary Session.

Additionally, Dr. Ryan Arago and Ms. Angela L. Arago served as session co-chairs for Business, Finance, and Management. At the same time, Dr. Erlee Angel S. Reyes acted as co-chair for Social Sciences, and Dr. Niña C. Apusaga as co-chair for Education 5.

With QCU’s active participation, the summit provided a platform for fruitful exchange and collaboration among scholars and experts, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of sustainable development in Southeast Asia.
