QCU Honors Top Faculty Researchers in REAR 2025
Quezon City University (QCU) celebrated the remarkable achievements of its faculty members in the Research and Extension Awards and Recognition (REAR) 2025, highlighting excellence in research publication and extension work, on March 3, 2025.
Held as part of the QCU Convocation during the first day of the University’s 31st Foundation Anniversary, this event recognized faculty members whose research has been published in prestigious SCOPUS- and Web of Science-indexed journals, as well as those who have contributed to QCU’s own academic journals and monographs.
The Meaning Behind REAR
The term “REAR” was chosen as more than just an abbreviation—it serves as a powerful metaphor for growth, empowerment, and strong foundations. Just as “rear” means to nurture, cultivate, and support—as in rearing a child or fostering development—this event highlights QCU’s commitment to uplifting faculty, researchers, and students in their pursuit of academic excellence and meaningful community engagement.
Rather than implying something is “at the back,” REAR represents the force that pushes QCU forward—driving academic breakthroughs, fostering community development, and leading the way for future scholars and changemakers.
Recognizing Excellence in Global and Local Research
A key focus of REAR 2025 was honoring QCU faculty members who have successfully published their research in internationally recognized SCOPUS and Web of Science journals. These high-impact publications signify global recognition and contribute to the university’s growing reputation in research and innovation.
Among the awardees were faculty members from the College of Engineering, College of Computer Studies, College of Education, and College of Business Administration & Accountancy, as well as administrative employees from the Research, Extension, Planning, and Linkages (REPL), who have made significant contributions to their respective fields through international journal publications and conference proceedings.
Apart from recognizing international publications, REAR 2025 also honored faculty members who published in QCU’s own academic journals and monographs, such as:
- The Lamp: Journal of EducationThe Gavel: Journal of Business and Social Sciences
- The Star: Journal of Science, Engineering, and IT
- QCU Monographs
These publications serve as vital platforms for scholarly discourse, providing QCU researchers with the opportunity to share their knowledge and contribute to academic discussions on education, business, science, and technology.
Leadership and Commitment to Research
QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza praised the awardees for their dedication to academic excellence and research advancement.
“The success of our faculty in publishing in SCOPUS and Web of Science journals proves that QCU is becoming a hub for meaningful research and innovation. At the same time, our in-house journals and monographs ensure that valuable studies, particularly those addressing local and national concerns, are shared with the academic community and beyond.”
The awards were presented by Dr. Theresita V. Atienza and Dr. Randel D. Estacio, OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs, as they honored the outstanding researchers and extension leaders of the university.
A Commitment to Research and Community Engagement
