QCU and Barangay Sauyo Solidify Partnership with MoU Signing

Quezon City University (QCU) and Barangay Sauyo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions, with a focus on addressing community needs and promoting sustainable development.

Held on April 22, 2024, the ceremonial MoU signing took place at the Barangay Hall of Sauyo, Quezon City, and was attended by officials and representatives from QCU and Barangay Sauyo. This event highlighted the shared commitment of both parties to work together towards common goals, in line with the University’s Extension Agenda, Thrusts and Priorities, Barangays’ Developmental Goals and Objectives, and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Barangay Chairperson Noel F. Vitug expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing its potential for a positive impact on both the academic institution and the barangay. Kgwd. Karen D. Quilo-Diaz, Co-Chairperson ng Committee on Women, Children, LGBTQIA+, and Family Relations, lead Kagawad for the first collaborative project “Karunungan on Wheels,” stressed the importance of collaboration in addressing societal challenges and creating opportunities for growth and development.

According to the terms of the MoU, QCU and Barangay Sauyo will collaborate in driving positive change at the grassroots level through education and capacity building, community outreach and engagement, research and innovation, and advocacy and policy support. The focus will be on prioritizing community needs while advancing sustainable development principles.

Representing the University President at the signing were Dir. Merly P. Dela Cruz, Director of QCU’s Office of Student Affairs and Services, and Mr. Lenard F. Bien, Acting Director of QCU’s REPL Extension Management Office and Head of the Community Engagement Unit. Members of the Barangay Sauyo Council – Kgwd. Carlos D. Apo, Kgwd. Symond R. Del Mundo, Kgwd. Camille J. Dela Cruz, Kgwd. Dindo M. Alvarez, Kgwd. Luz P. Savilla, and SK Chairperson Bryan Rolly G. Maliwat, also witnessed the event.
