“Karunungan on Wheels” Celebrates First Batch of Graduates

SDG 1 4 9 11 17

The Karunungan on Wheels (KOW) educational program is the result of a strong partnership between Quezon City University (QCU) — represented by the Extension Management Office, QCU College of Education — and the local government of Barangay Sauyo creating a transformative experience that blends educational outreach with community development.

The program focused on early childhood education, offering two learning tracks to cater to the needs of each age group:

BINHI — for children aged 4 to 5 years old

PUNLA — for children aged 6 to 7 years old

For over 20 days, children participated in engaging, hands-on activities designed to stimulate their imagination and spark curiosity. The result was not just measurable learning, but an overall sense of joy and enthusiasm among the young learners.

One of the most inspiring aspects of KOW was the active involvement of QCU students, faculty, and staff, who served as volunteer teachers and brought their passion for education into the communities, providing individualized attention and ensuring every child’s learning needs were met.

On June 14, the program’s first batch of graduates marked an important milestone — not only in their educational journey but in the collective success of the entire Barangay Sauyo community. The graduation ceremony was a heartfelt celebration, where children, their families, volunteers, and local leaders gathered to reflect on the journey and look ahead to a future filled with possibilities.

The program’s success is a shining example of what can be achieved when academic institutions, local governments, and communities work hand-in-hand to promote inclusive, accessible education. It also highlights QCU’s unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation and expanding its reach beyond the university walls.

With the first batch now graduated, the next phase of Karunungan on Wheels is already in the works. Plans are underway to expand the program to other barangays in Quezon City, bringing the joy of learning to even more children.

This initiative marks the beginning of a new chapter in community-based education — one where every child, no matter their background, has the opportunity to plant the seeds of knowledge that will grow throughout their lives.
