Cultivating Change: UPA Symposium Day 2 Focuses on Action
Experts, students, and community leaders gathered today at Quezon City University (QCU) for a symposium promoting sustainable urban farming as a key solution to food security and greener cities.
Co-hosted by QCU and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), the event spotlighted the National Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), which aims to transform idle urban spaces into productive gardens and farms.
Participants explored modern farming technologies, sustainable practices like composting and rainwater harvesting, and successful community projects that have turned vacant lots into thriving food sources.
“This is about empowering cities to feed themselves sustainably,” said an ATI representative.
Organizers hope the symposium will inspire more urban communities to embrace agriculture as a tool for health, sustainability, and resilience.
