QCU Empowers Barangay Leaders Through School of Good Governance

SDG 4 16

Quezon City University (QCU), in partnership with the Quezon City Local Government and the Barangay and Community Relations Department (BCRD), continues to strengthen local leadership through the launch of the School of Good Governance Certificate Courses under the QCU Center for Professional and Continuing Education – Speaker Feliciano R. Belmonte Jr. School of Good Governance.

The program offers specialized courses in Evidence-Based Policy and Decision Making and Public Finance, equipping community leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to promote effective, transparent, and people-centered governance.

Held on May 30, 2026, at the QCU San Bartolome Main Campus, the continuing session gathered barangay leaders from Quezon City’s six districts, united by a common goal of fostering responsive, data-driven, and sustainable communities. Participants engaged in discussions and learning activities that highlighted the importance of principled leadership and informed decision-making in addressing community needs and advancing public service.

A key highlight of the program was the session on Principles in Policymaking, led by QCU President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza. She welcomed the participants and facilitated a Community Problem-Solving Workshop, encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and innovative approaches to real-world governance challenges.

The initiative reflects the shared commitment of QCU, the Quezon City Government, and BCRD to invest in leadership development and strengthen local governance. Through meaningful partnerships and continuing education, the program aims to empower community leaders to create positive and lasting impact in their respective barangays.

As the School of Good Governance continues to develop capable and service-oriented leaders, QCU reaffirms its commitment to advancing excellence in public service, promoting informed policymaking, and helping build a stronger, more compassionate Quezon City for future generations.
