Empowering ALS Learners Through Digital Citizenship and Computer Literacy
Quezon City University (QCU) successfully conducted the Project Computer Literacy Program (CLiP) on February 12 and 14, 2026, for Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners from Quezon City Districts 2 and 5. The lecture-review sessions were held at the QCU San Bartolome Campus on February 12 and at the QCU Batasan Campus on February 14, bringing together ALS Elementary and ALS Junior High School learners in preparation for the 2026 ALS Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Test.
The program focused on Learning Strand VI: Digital Citizenship, delivering a comprehensive lecture review aimed at strengthening learners’ knowledge of responsible digital behavior, online safety, media and information literacy, and the ethical use of technology. This initiative sought to enhance participants’ readiness and build their confidence as they prepare for the Equivalency Test and future academic opportunities.
During the opening ceremony at the San Bartolome Campus, University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza expressed her appreciation to the Quezon City Schools Division Office for its continued partnership and support. She encouraged the learners to believe in their abilities, reminding them that determination and perseverance can lead to success in the ALS Equivalency Test and beyond. She also invited them to consider pursuing higher education at Quezon City University as part of their academic journey.
Project CLiP is implemented by the QCU Extension Management Office through the College of Computer Studies under the QCU SMILE Extension Program. The initiative reflects the University’s strong commitment to inclusive, community-responsive, and impact-driven extension services that empower learners and promote equitable access to education.
The sessions were facilitated by dedicated faculty members and educators, including Dr. Paula Joy Dela Cruz, Ms. Norilyn C. Sindanum, Ms. Teresita M. Cruz, Ms. Cyrille Anne I. Nery, Mr. Manuel L. Los Añes Jr., Mr. John Riz Herbosa, and Ms. Rozi Mae A. Broqueza, whose expertise ensured an engaging and meaningful learning experience for all participants.
Through Project CLiP, QCU continues to bridge the digital divide by equipping ALS learners with essential digital competencies and fostering accessible pathways toward lifelong learning, academic advancement, and future success.
