QCU Empowers Barangay Personnel Through Project CLiP: Computer Literacy Training Launched for Cohort 1

SDG 4 8 9 11 17

The Quezon City University (QCU), through the College of Computer Studies – BS Information Technology Program and the REPL Extension Management Office, successfully conducted the first cohort of the Project Computer Literacy Program (CLiP) on October 24 and 28, 2025, at the Computer Laboratory Room of QCU Main Campus.

Barangay administrative personnel from San Bartolome, Bagbag, Gulod, Sta. Lucia, and Talipapa participated in the two-day training. The program aims to enhance the digital literacy competencies of local government workers in support of more efficient administrative processes and technology-driven public service delivery at the community level.

Project CLiP forms part of QCU’s University-wide Extension Program under the Iangat and Eksperto Pillars of the QCU SMILE Extension Framework, and is implemented in collaboration with the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO).

The project team is led by Asst. Prof. Norilyn C. Sindanum (Project Team Leader), Dr. Paula Joy Dela Cruz (Assistant Project Team Leader), and Ms. Maria Lourdes D. Parinas from the REPL Extension Management Office (Project Coordinator).

Day 1 of the training focused on Computer Hardware, Basic Troubleshooting, and Cybersecurity, facilitated by Mr. Samson A. Semwenda and Mr. Adelan P. Sistoso. Day 2 covered Microsoft Office tools and productivity applications, led by Mr. Ezekiel R. Borja, Ms. Nadine E. Pimentel, and Ms. Angelica Jones J. Maynigo.

Students from the League of Excellent Students in Information Technology (LESIT), along with QCU BSIT alumni volunteers, also supported the training as part of the University’s advocacy of promoting volunteerism and community engagement.

Through Project CLiP, participants gained practical skills in computer operations, data management, and digital security—competencies that contribute to more responsive and effective barangay administration.

As Project CLiP continues to expand across Quezon City, QCU reaffirms its commitment to empowering communities through education, innovation, and digital transformation.
