QCU Joins World Skills ASEAN Manila 2025, Showcases Commitment to Global Skills Development

Quezon City University (QCU) actively participated in the World Skills ASEAN Manila 2025, on August 21 to 30 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. The event brought together nearly 300 participants from across Southeast Asia, highlighting technical excellence in 32 competition areas across six major industry sectors.

QCU’s participation underscored its commitment to fostering global competitiveness among students and faculty. University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, accompanied by officials from the College of Engineering and the College of Computer Studies, attended the August 27 program to express institutional support for international skills advancement. They were joined by members of the QCU Robotics Team.

The university also contributed manpower and expertise throughout the event. Sixty (60) students from the Electronics Engineering and Information Technology departments volunteered during the ingress phase, assisting TESDA with logistics, equipment setup, and materials handling.

Meanwhile, the QCU Robotics Team served as Scorekeeper Referees for the VEX Robotics practice and scrimmage from August 26 to 28 at the Philippine Trade Training Center, gaining valuable experience in competition officiating. In addition, QCU faculty members participated in a Robotics Professional Development Workshop on Python programming and Artificial Intelligence applications in robotics, conducted by Mr. Andy Lee of Innovation First International Hong Kong Ltd.

Through these engagements, QCU students and faculty gained exposure to international standards, practical learning opportunities, and collaboration with industry leaders. The university reaffirmed its dedication to promoting skills excellence and preparing its academic community for the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly evolving global workforce.
