QCU-ITSO Empowers Future Engineers Through Patent Search and Claims Drafting Workshop
Quezon City University (QCU), through its Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) in collaboration with the College of Engineering, successfully conducted a two-day Training Workshop on Patent Search and Claims Drafting on April 21–22, 2026. The initiative brought together fourth-year students from the Electronics Engineering Department, equipping them with essential competencies in intellectual property and innovation development.
The workshop aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of patent systems by providing both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in conducting effective patent searches and drafting precise patent claims. These skills are crucial for aspiring engineers, enabling them to protect their innovations and contribute meaningfully to technological advancement.
Serving as the resource speaker, Ms. Maria Aura C. Impang, LPT, MSIT, General Manager of the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), shared her expertise in intellectual property processes. She guided participants through interactive sessions, ensuring that students gained practical insights into real-world applications of patent documentation and protection.
This initiative underscores QCU’s commitment to nurturing a culture of innovation, research excellence, and intellectual property awareness among its students. By empowering future engineers with these vital skills, the University continues to strengthen its role in developing industry-ready graduates capable of driving innovation and contributing to national development.
