QCU ITSO Conducts 3-Day Foundation Course on Intellectual Property for BSIT Students
Quezon City University (QCU), through its Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), successfully conducted a Foundation Course on Intellectual Property (IP) for third-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students last February 2 to 4, 2026, at the QCU Auditorium.
The three-day intensive training, organized for the College of Computer Studies (CCS), was implemented in three strategic batches to ensure comprehensive coverage and personalized engagement for all student participants. The course was designed to instill a deep appreciation for the legal and economic value of original works.
As BSIT students progress toward their senior years, the ITSO emphasizes the critical role of IP in protecting software innovations, creative digital assets, and technical developments. Students were introduced to the various pillars of IP rights, including Patents, Utility Models, Industrial Designs, Trademarks, and Copyright. By understanding these protections, students are better prepared to safeguard their upcoming capstone projects and transition their academic research into viable technological solutions.
The program featured a lineup of distinguished resource speakers from the QCU ITSO, who provided localized insights into the Philippine IP landscape:
