QCU-ITSO and College of Business Equip Students with Patent Claims Drafting Skills
Quezon City University – Innovation and Technology Support Office (QCU-ITSO), in collaboration with the College of Business, successfully concluded its Claims Drafting Training Workshop held from February 23 to 26 at the IK603 IT Laboratory.
The four-day workshop was conducted in two batches, each composed of 55 General Managers of Enterprises from the 2nd and 3rd year Business Implementation classes. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of invention spotting and patent claims drafting—essential competencies for safeguarding innovative ideas and technologies.
The training was led by Ms. Maria Aura C. Impang, General Manager of QCU-ITSO, who facilitated a combination of lectures and hands-on activities aimed at strengthening students’ understanding of intellectual property.
“Understanding how to identify inventions and draft claims is an important step in protecting innovations,” Impang emphasized. “This training helps students transform their ideas into protected intellectual property.”
By the end of the workshop, students successfully developed their own invention spotting and claims drafting outputs, demonstrating their ability to apply theoretical knowledge into practical outputs.
This initiative highlights Quezon City University’s continued commitment to fostering an innovation-driven academic environment and equipping future entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to protect and maximize their ideas.
