QCU Batasan Campus Hosts Local Education Program on Fire Prevention
As part of the Fire Prevention Month activities, Quezon City University’s (QCU) Batasan Campus recently organized a comprehensive Fire Prevention Seminar at the QCU Batasan Campus Covered Court on March 11, 2024, facilitated by officers from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Fire Officer (FO3) Rene Marc Q. Gagaza and FO1 Jhomel P. Gacis serve as the resource speakers of the seminar, which aimed to equip attendees with essential knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to fire emergencies effectively. Among the participants were the QCU Batasan Campus Director, faculty and staff members, security guards, janitorial and maintenance staff, and students. Officials present during the activity were Mr. Michelangelo Fulo, Director for QCU Batasan, Mr. Nelson Lazare, Executive Director for Campuses, and Mr. Antonio Garcia, University Security Officer.
FO3 Gagaza and FO1 Gacis shared invaluable insights on fire prevention techniques, identifying fire hazards, proper evacuation procedures, and the operation of firefighting equipment. Practical demonstrations were also conducted to enhance participants’ understanding and preparedness in handling fire incidents and in using fire extinguishers.
Speaking about the importance of such initiatives, Dir. Fulo emphasized the university’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of its community members.
“Ensuring the safety of our students, faculty, and staff is paramount. By organizing events like this Fire Prevention Seminar, we empower our students and employees with the knowledge and skills needed to mitigate fire risks and respond effectively in emergencies,” he said.
Mr. Lazare echoed these sentiments, underscoring the significance of proactive measures in safeguarding lives and property.
“As an institution dedicated to academic excellence and holistic development, QCU places a high value on the well-being of everyone within our campuses,” he remarked.
