QCU, Ateneo Explore Research Partnership on Urban Agriculture
Quezon City University (QCU) and the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Dr. Rosita G. Leong School of Social Sciences (RGLSoSS) explored opportunities for institutional collaboration on urban agriculture research and related initiatives during an exploratory meeting held on July 3, 2026.
QCU was represented by University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza and Research Management Office Director Angelito P. Bautista Jr., who met with Dr. Maria Regina Hechanova-Alampay, Dean of the ADMU RGLSoSS, along with other school officials and faculty members.
The discussions centered on opportunities for multidisciplinary research on urban agriculture, examining its economic, social, political, entrepreneurial, and community dimensions. The proposed collaboration aims to generate research that can contribute to a deeper understanding of urban agriculture and its potential to support sustainable and inclusive urban development.
Both institutions also explored the possibility of organizing an initial collaborative activity that would bring together researchers, faculty members, and students to identify specific areas for joint research, knowledge exchange, and community engagement.
The meeting marked an initial step toward a potential partnership that would bring together QCU’s growing experience in urban agriculture, innovation, and community engagement with Ateneo’s multidisciplinary expertise in the social sciences.
The proposed collaboration also complements QCU’s continuing efforts to advance urban agriculture as a platform for research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community development, further strengthening its contribution to sustainable development in Quezon City and beyond.
