QCU Robotics Society Strengthens VEX Override Preparations in Open Field Practice
The QCU Robotics Society strengthened its preparations for the upcoming VEX Robotics 0competitive season through the VEX Override Open Field Practice held on September 10, 2026, in Clark, Pampanga.
The practice gave the team an opportunity to test and calibrate its robot under actual game conditions. With access to the official field and game elements for the VEX Override challenge, the QCU team assessed the robot’s performance and made adjustments to improve its reliability and readiness for competition.
The team focused on evaluating the robot’s functions, calibrating its autonomous path, and identifying areas for improvement. The activity also allowed members to strengthen their programming, driving, troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills—essential competencies for responding to technical challenges during competitions.
The scrimmage opened with insights from Sir Andy Lee, President of Innovation First International HK, and Engr. Eric Jude S. Soliman, President and CEO of Hytec Power Inc., who shared guidance and encouragement as the team prepares for future robotics competitions.
The team was also visited by QCU University President Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, who observed the practice and delivered a motivational message emphasizing teamwork and resilience as important keys to success in tournaments. She also shared that a new set of game elements would soon be delivered to the QCU robotics laboratory, providing the team with additional resources for its continued preparation.
The open field practice strengthened the team’s technical readiness while reinforcing the importance of collaboration and perseverance. Through hands-on testing and troubleshooting, the members were able to calibrate the robot and autonomous path while gaining valuable experience in addressing unexpected challenges.

The activity reflects QCU’s continuing efforts to develop students’ skills in robotics, innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving as the University prepares for another competitive VEX Robotics season.
